I can only speak for my own experience.
I have watched the match and a few films today....no probs to report.
The only probs I have are from my own incompetence

[QUOTE=Ebenezor;561755]I have no axe to grind, I wanted a box that would be useful after the server turned the cable off.
As I said I have 3 Eurovox Box's as excellent doorstops.
I have had my Starview combo HD for about 1 week, It has not had any hiccupps.Easy to set up simple menu's etc.
I did my homework, read the forums and made an informed decision.
For £45 difference it was a no brainer in my opinion.

The starview combo is about £199 the starview 7 is about £99 and the KV A780 about £154

Future proof ...if cable gets turned off in future he/she may buy a sat dish from ebay and not be left with a cable box door stop ?

m8 i have a sv hd combo+ and a kv a780, i also had 2 sv 6's before my kv. youre asking about boxesto buy? well that really depends on what youre looking for? cable/sat. personally i prefer the sv combo on sat side, but for cable side i would defo reccommend the kv as the server is a lot more stable than sv's no glitching, freezing or losing channels(server downtime). but remember the kv server is free, where as you wil need to pay for a satellite server around £10-15 per month(defo worth it full hd all channels)

im with stevie and the hd combo.... if ever god help us if it does go down then you have the option of the sat side, and like mentioned before an extra 60 quid or so to have a box that works is worth the investment , unless u see paying 154 quid now then another 150 if the cable goes down as being a good expense!

the sat side can be perfect, glitch free and there if you need it.
its a completeley different thing to the cable side as in you are not relying on a huge server somewhere in taiwan which could be shut down at anytime, the sat side uses servers supplied by individual ppl who pay the subs then offer it out from their own servers,. my mate just set up his own server system for experimenting and it was glitch free, basically anything he subbed i could get from his server.

there are laods of them out there willing to serve you! some are good but some are just out to get yr cash then freezes will come.

read the forums for the best servers )usually some guy doing it from home is best). but it does make sense to have this as a back up if the big servers are taken down.

i know the kv a780 is a dam good box but when the cable server is scrambled what do you do? at least with the combo its a remot ebutton press and voila back on !

economic sense and common sense!

regards dave
