Default The dreaded combo freezing

Hi all
I have seen that a few people have the same problem with the HD Combo Lan Freezing. Ive tried a few things such as taking the box back to default fireware and try differant combinations of installing groverider and then carling or just carling on it's own. I have also followed every guide i can find with no luck. The combo box just keeps freezing every 20 to 30 seconds. I also have a SV6 and Ddigital Duo both work fine so i don't think it'd my signal or the server. Could anyone offer any advice on possible fixs for this problem

Many Thanks

Dan

This is something i picked up elsewhere ,
Hope it helps. also i hope its ok to post in here.
IF not apologies in advance.

HAVE YOU DONE ALL OFF THE BELOW
As most of us are being hit with the N3 strain of cable box flu,
I thought I'd post my own guide for all who are struggling
to get their channels back on the HD combo via a cable network.
As there is currently no vaccine for the N3 strain,
we now have to hook up our boxes via a card sharing server to receive the keys.
Step 1: Get the ****** toolbar

This is a browser add-on that allows you to download the latest files and fixes.
Google it, install it.
Browse to: Files and Fixes - Updates and Fixes - Starview Fixes -
Starview HD Combo and grab yourself the latest GrooveRider and Carling file.
At time of post, latest GrooveRider file is 1214.UAD, latest Carling file is 0712.UAD.
Step 2: Flashing your box.
Pop your GrooveRider & Carling files onto a USB stick. On your HD combo go to menu,
Utility and do a Factory reset.
Now browse to Accessory - USB, select your GrooveRider file and click ok.
Select S/W + All data update and let it do it's thing.
After the update, make sure autoroll is set to on, in menu, press 8989,
go to Accessory - key edit (if key edit isn't appearing, try 8989 again)
make sure UCAS & autoroll is on.
Now do another factory reset. (not sure if this is necessary, but I did)
You should now be able to pick up all your channels by going to Installation
- cable auto search.
Let it find all your channels and when done it's time to load your Carling file on.
Browse back to your USB, select Carling file - ok - SW + all data update
Step 3: Setting up the server
Make sure your box is connected to your router;
there are wireless adapters for the Starview if your network cable won't reach.
These cost around £30.
Go to Menu - Accessory - Network - IP setup.
Network setup should be set to auto and all the numbers should be filled in;
IP address, subnet mask, mac address etc. If not, your router isn't setup correctly,
make sure DHCP is on, manually assign an IP address using the Mac address of the box,
if you don't know how, Google your router's setup.
Now scroll down to CS Net and select Ustream (UK) or Istream (ireland),
it should connect and register your box automagically.
The server is sometimes down, so if it doesn't connect right away, try later.
That's it! Most of your channels should be back. As of now,
a lot of HD channels are not part of the CS network, so you won't receive them.
There are also issues with channels freezing or going off completely,
this is either a network / software or server glitch.
The data being sent to your box is tiny and can probably be run on a 56K modem! Just be patient.

Some more info, i hope this is helpful
and in the the right place.

=============================

Starview hd with lan?? What software??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS FOR THE SV HD COMBO BOX with LAN onlyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!
Load Grooverider 1214 & Carling+ 0712 files on to your usb memory stick,
make sure power is off and insert the memory stick into the front usb socket,
underneath the front flap.
Turn the HD Combo on.
From the main menu go to Accessory and select USB.
On the right hand side, you will see the Grooverider 1214 file.
Press ok on it and select S/W+All Data Update.
The machine will update and restart (don't pull your memory stick out).
Go to utility and do a factory (DB) reset.
Turn the HD Combo off then on again.
From the main menu go to Accessory and select USB.
On the right hand side, you will see the Carling+ 0712 file.
Press ok on it and select S/W Update.
The machine will update and restart
(don't pull your memory stick out until the machine has fully started up).
You now need to scan your channels. Go to installation, and go down to AUTO CABLE SEARCH.
All you need to change here is the symbol rate.
The symbol rate determines your area - for example ntl is 6887, 6952 for telewest and c&w.
When you have selected your area go to start scan, and press ok.
Once the scan has finished go to menu
then highlight accessory and on the remote press the numbers "8989"
you will then see "keyedit" appear on the right hand side,
go to it and press ok and just check that auto update is on if it's off just turn it on.
You can now connect the box to your router or modem using an ethernet cable.
From the main menu go to Accessory and select Network.
Set Type to On, go down to CS Net and press ok.
Set Type to Ustream, for uk go down to register and press ok.
After a few seconds Connection status should say connected.
Note that your box may have already connected to the server for you, but it's best to check.
Then go to your channels by pressing exit a few times.
Select a non FTA channel and leave it until a picture appears.
Please note that it can take up to 5 minutes to update.

Should be getting my STARVIEW HD with LAN today,
there are so many different downloads around
and i want to make sure i use the correct and most up to date ones.
there is enough guides on how to update
so i would just like confirmation on the files please

From reading about this file looks best at the moment
Carling 0712 uad
Can anyone confirm if i should bother with grooverider
or not a standard definition starview 6&7 only needs carling file
to do everything so that suggests to me grooverider is only for the satellite side of the box???
And if i do need grooverider which is the most current upto date 0212 or 1214??
Thanks for any help and info endemall...
Load this file ONLY to the box >>> Carling 0712 uad
forget the post above use it for loading purposes only,
do NOT!! put that other file on your box you dont need it.
here is the file below use this only
SOFTWARE HERE

Thanks m8 its exactly what i thought loads of people on about using grooverider,
well i got the starview hd combo out the box brand new
and just applied carling 0712 uad and its working sweet.
When i say sweet i really mean ok,
well annoyed about the channel sort these is no easy way to sort the channels
like all other boxes seem to do easily, and this is the most expensive,
i also have a kryptview which is easy to glide through channel listings
this starview combo is a pain in the ass

Channel sorting is easy. Press OK when watching TV,
press the red button to sort or the blue button to select alphabetical sorting.
Or, menu - channel manager and arrange them how you want.
Then go to USB and save your channel data to a USB stick.

I have had my SV HD Combo for 7 days.
I have not experienced any problems.
Yesterday I received the cheaper SV 7 and set it up.
I will monitor it's performance.

Do the SV Servers cover only certain area's?
Why are we all not having same probs?, does it also depend on the cable area?

These questions and many more

sounds like the op has some hidden splitters or old splitters in place.

also as each install is different and there are many variables to make these work perfect there could be any number of problems at each location.

some boxes will work great where others dont.....

If you have unsorted cable channels, press the SAT button and select CABLE, now using the OK/LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN buttons, you can select channels from the favourite groups with channels sorted like a subscribed box
