You have to pay £10 to sky for a "recording only" subscription. If you don't pay it then your sky+ box will just be an expensive freesat tuner.

I answered this in the Eurovox forum - You have to pay £10 to sky to retain your Sky+ functionality.

Please don't post identical threads in multiple sections - Threads merged.

To answer your question, you can only use a Sky+ as a HDD recorder to record off satellite and as stated, you have to pay Sky £10 per Month to keep the recording features active.

I would stick with Sky, you will probably get a good deal from retentions when you call to cancel - I have heard of people getting half price Sports or Movies for 6 months.

Aplogies, I didnt realise that these merged.

To clarify my question, can I use this to record off cable (virgin) just by setting a manual time to record and connecting it up - without paying £10.

No - it is only capable of recording off a satellite feed. It will not record off cable no matter how much you pay!

on another note, can any Hard disk recorders be triggered by a eurovox into recording the channel on screen - just asif you pressed the one touch record button? (without setting a record time on the recorder0
I know that this is possible with some setups.
CHEERS
