You buy a starview/kryptview and get access to the c/s server for x amount of time, so what happens when that time is up?
Does the MAC address of your box get listed as expired? Isn't the second hand market for these boxes going to get flooded with non-connectible boxes that no one can complain about once bought? Can't we just change the MAC address slightly to get a new account? I know there is software for the HD combo that can reset it and allow editing of the MAC address. How do we know for sure how much access time we have, all I read are rumours. Cheers |

Krypt dont have an expire date, with the starview im sure its hard coded to the box like a counter or somit, and as soon as you activate it when it reaches the 12mts period on the countdown the box will just stop working.
That would be my take on it, that was how all the clones starview died and not straight away.

Is that right that after 12 months the Starview just expires and stops working? So do you then have to buy another box to get server access? If that is the case I cannot understand why anyone would buy a sv instead of a kv? Unless of course like me they did not know!

Lets hope N3 gets hacked in the next 12 months I doubt that your subscription is hard coded into the box, more likely when you register your box on the c/s, your MAC address gets logged along with the subscription start date. If that's the case then there is probably a way around it. All guess work of course. Last edited by reiss; 05-11-10 at 02:56 PM. |

Nope you actually think starview that stupid, how do you think the clones where hit as when you put the software on the box it did not die straight away, they can actually get the box to not work after so many presses of the remote if they want, what ever code they write to the chip thats what it does, so the answer to your question is it will go off after 12 mts and no way of changing the mac.

starview 7 = £99
so for that you get 12 months tv all channels (as close as) and people are complaining? try and get this amount of channels from sky for the same price! so what in 12 months you have to pay another £99 for a new box? for what you get i think its a bargain.... personally i got a combo and dont rely on the cable side at all. the sat side is so good thats all i need! in fact the cable side is mainly used for the epg.. regards dave |

I would also imagine the SV server checks for duplicate logins using the same credentials so even if you fathom the certificate chances are that you'll simply manage to blacklist yet another set of credentials ! |
