Hi all,
I recently bought an IDE Dual Layer burner to replace my SATA writer. Can anyone tell me how to change it over? I have never done this before. I know my motherboard has 4 IDE slots on it so do I just take out the SATA drive, disconnect the SATA cable from the motherboard and then plug an IDE into the motherboard and then into the new writer and that’s it? Do I have to do anything in the BIOS etc? If these questions seem obvious I apologise! Al |

It's mostly plug and play, no need to alter any settings as your PC should do it automatically.
You can even keep the SATA drive, if you want, providing there is space in the case, as all you need is to connect a power plug, which you should have spare, and connect the IDE cable. |

if your using the the same drive to boot from the same drive then you would need to set the jumpers mate... Otherwise u will not be able to boot from cd/dvd when installing OS.
So in other words if your planning to use it as a primary drive then you would need to have it as Master. (jumper settings) Also remember that with IDE cables the end of the cable is always Master. One end plugs into the Mobo and the other end should go into your cd/ dvd Drive. Alternatively you can always keep the SATA drive and the IDE drive.
