Smile major mobo or cpu help needed.

Hi I have a problem that has me suspecting a bad cpu..
my aunts computer died a while back and I've been trouble shooting it forever.. I've tried all new cards.. different memory/no memory and now a new/used motherboard.
without memory in both motherboards I get no beeps at all.. unhook everything and try to start again.. still no beeps...
all the bells and whistles seem to work.. fans led for hdd and power all seem to work.. psu swap didn't change anything.. so I swapped again and still no beeps...back again to the original mobo.. no memory in the board.. no beeps...
every thing seems to be starting up as you would expect.. but the hd is quiet.. and there is no video feed.. monitor recieves no signal.

So.. swapp the monitor .. nothing.. again strip it down to the bare necessities and remove the memory.. no beeps... put the memory back in.. nothing.. even tried a pci video card thinking the agp might be toast.. but on two mobo's? man I'm at my wits end..
Any ideas??
thanks in advance for your time!
peace!

no post from bios.. no signal getting to the monitor..
2 mobo's three different cpu's with memory.. without... no signal to the monitor.. and I've tried the monitor I'm on now as well as two others in the house... still nothing...
It's a celeron 600/128.. very cheap so I'll buy a new one from pricewatch and give that a shot

why are you removing the memory, you will get a no memory detected error if it does post, make sure the memory is good using a single stick from a known good system, checking that it is installed in the first slot this will be stated in the manual, install the graphics card and one hd only, this should be enough to post as long as all jumpers connections are correct, old boards are notorious for having a flat cmos battery, just leaving the board connected to a power supply overnight will put enough charge into the battery to boot, my main suspect is a discharged cmos battery. hope this helps, gl.

I removed the memory to see if I would get the no memory beeps..
But you have a point that I haven't tried yet.. the battery.. so I'll leave this puppy plugged in overnight and see what I get from there!! thanks!!
I tried the chip in another mobo and it worked like an ace!.. so if there is a problem it would have to be the mobo at this point.. I'll keep an eye on this thread and let ya know when and if I getthis thing off the ground... or would it be "out of the grave"?
Nice! Thanx again!!

Go back to your power supply !!!

Get yourself a test meter (volt meter)

take it out of the pc, and short the green wire to any black wires. this will turn the psu on. Now look for the DC voltages of 3.3, 5, 12 and -12. It could be a "part" of your PSU that has failed. or just swap it for another one, any old ATX **** will do just to confirm its the power supply.

Try it also with no HDD or IDE devices connected. These are not required for initial power up, but if a device has a faulty PSU/controller board it can short the PSU and prevent a boot.

Let us know your progress.

Some good ideas going around, but if you've tried every combination, try swapping the parts into a known working pc if possible, for example the RAM
