Unhappy Is TM5500 CI+ or Joker Cam patchable -Please help

Hello everyone. I am quite a novice to the world of patches/flushing etc. I have a Technomate 5500 CI+ receiver and a Joker Cam (both 3 years old). I was told the TM5500 is difficult to patch and better buying a TM1500. Is there any way of upgrading my Joker cam (instead of buying another receiver). If yes, I would appreciate if you could tell how. Do I need to buy cam programmer and what files I need. Also, I hear a lot about "loader". Is it a software that can be found on some sites or a hardware (e.g. programmer). I would appreciate your help. Best regards. dhamel

I am in the same position. Just to fill me in can someone please tell me what a Joker Cam is please? I was under the impression that the Technomate TM-55000 CI does not have a cam?

Hi there's not much use for a joker cam today the best cam to buy would be the dragon cam 4.1 this can be patched quite easily but you will need a pheonix 6mhz type programmer and dragon loader card or a fun 7.The patchable software for tm5500 is not well supported and many have chosen to convert their TM's to NEXT which have better support .Hope this helps

Hi Robie theres a site called alsat dot co dot uk .You will need to register .Go to their forum scroll down to (digital receiver) there you will see on the left Next TM 5000 series click software you should find what you need if not post request . One thing to bare in mind you will need to buy old style romote (5000) to use the receiver once youve changed firmware.
My advise if you can try updating to technomate 1500 .Very cheap and powerfull machine once patched .All software found on same site.
Hope this helps.

I personally use both a TM1000 (very basic with no CI slot) patched receiver and a Dragon/T-Rex 4.6 in my other receiver. I would go for the 4.6 cam rather than the 4.1 as it's better supported, currently the only advantage is having Premiere open, but who knows what's next.

You can convert your reciever to a NEXT but you cant use the same remote you can however use a technomate remote with the blue button in the middle [from the upgraded serie's].. or a cheap all in one remote from curr*ys
[samsung]..that work's,would be a good idea though to buy a diablo cam update's are fast and much better then the dragon..[cheaper to]..
