Unhappy Sky Broadband

After having Sky Broadband for a few months now i cant believe how Slow it is..

Im on the Free Broadband package upto 20 Meg & im only getting 0.5 Meg Every Time i do a speed check..
A month ago i got the Best so far 2 Meg..

Is there anything i can do to make the Download Speed any quicker??..
Im using the Free Router/Modem Sky gave me..
I was going to pay the Extra £7.50 a month for Unlimited Downloads but im not sure if this makes the Download Speed any Quicker!!..
When i try to go on to Youtube i give up as the video keeps buffering Every 5 Seconds & you have to wait a while before it will carry on..
Think im Set Up Correctly too,im using a ADSL Filter..
Any Help or Ideas would be SUPERB..

Thumbs up Re: Sky Broadband

you should have the router connected to the master socket

Also you can get the accelator plates which improve your speed by 1.5MBPS.. Search on google for Open reach '' BT Accelator plate'' and also reduces any noise & attentuation on the line.

Each BT slave socket that is being used in the house.. i.e a phone / fax machine plugged in then you should have a ADSL microfilter plugged in.

Am on ADSL myself and I used to only get 3 MBPS connection ... After using the accelerator plates and plugging the router to the master socket I noticed a significant difference in my speed. I now have a 5MBPS connection.

Yes ive got the Router Connected to the Master Socket..

Master Socket to Filter out of the Filter is the Router & 2 way Phone Adaptor (1 to Phone & other to Sky Box in the Lounge)
Off are 2 Slave Sockets only 1 is being used & that has a Filter connected to the Socket & out of the Filter it goes to the Sky Multi Room Box..
The other Slave Socket has nothing plugged in at present so ive got no Filter in is this right??..
I will order one of them Accelerator Plates you have mentioned..

Smile Re: Sky Broadband

Some people call them "bell filters" if you can find a BT engineer working close by, offer him a £5 for one

BT bell filters have "Openzone" written on the front

Sorted it..

I connected the Router,Phone & Sky Box on Test Socket in the BT Master Socket & was getting 2.5 Meg..

I found This a Great Help..
I connected wires 2,3 & 5 & you dont need to connect wire 3 nowdays..

Disconnected Wire 3 in the Extensions & Master & im getting 2.5 Meg again..
