I'm on 10mbs with vm.
Speedtest shows 9.72 mbps for me. That looks about right for this time.(6.25 am).

These things are notoriosly innacurate due to the way the internet works. They usually tend to read far too low for anything above a few Mbits/sec but its not unknown for them to read way too high when some local cache just happens to have the proper info for the transfer test (rare, but it does occur). Sometimes they are just plain wrong as they occasionally get confused and send the wrong results to the wrong client !

I do use them as a benchmark, but for a more accurate picture, I tend to test my speed by downloading Ubuntu, and having a look at the speed of the download of the file. I tend to get around 700KB/s which equates to 5.6MB/S Speedtests always show that Im downloading at 6.2MB/s
It doesn't bother me as tbh 2Mb broadband is enough, as the only real amount of downloading is streaming content online that is quite sufficient to watch on a 2Mb connection(shared between two laptops, 2 mobiles, and the KV) Speedchecker seems to be more accurate(Thats where I get around 6.2Mb/s) Speedtest has been really dodgy on me really, showing that I can get 50 or 100Mb/s broadband when we pay for up to 8Mb/s with O2 lol. The upload speed is around about correct as we pay for an up to 1.3Mb/s upload speed but it's not too much of a biggy, considering I dont upload much
