In all honesty, I very highly doubt that there will be a hack for N3 in the coming months, especially on a new receiver where the security will probably be a lot better, and lots of research would need to be done on it. Regardless, there is no hack for N3.

N3 consists of different ROM's for different countries, yet no one has managed to crack open ROM's any where in the world. Maybe in 10 years though... For now, we still have c/s available to us. If/when c/s dies, we have motorised dishes available to us and HTPC's

I highly doubt it. First of all, you would need a team of coders. Look here on these forums. The guys who sorted N1 patches for us were the underground crew, and not one person.

Secondly, any new receiver will probably have higher security on it, to deter hackers from breaking in. To compromise security, it would take a team months. For an individual, it would take years to do. Nag 3 may possibly be hacked by one man, in about 10 years or so but a team would be a lot quicker. Lots of blackhat coders stick together when coding. When you download torrents, even the cracks are coded by teams as it would take one man far too long.(thats low level coding as well!)

Im assuming by saying this

, you mean that he works for VM. That frankly means **** all, considering the software is closed source and bought from Kudelski so any programmers would not have access to the code. They would only be able to implement it on their system.

Then again, the likelihood is that the coders will not implement it on their system, but the network admins considering it's more suited to their job role. Considering network admins work with little bits of code when programming routers, then that makes me even more skeptical as to whether such a hack is to surface

The box will also feature its own dedicated internal modem that link i posted so the box will work like the box we are using at the moment but this box haves a modem build inside it.

So, you're now saying that it will be a c/s device? In that case, then we already have such devices lol. Samsung 2110C's have an ethernet port, and they were never hacked. Dbox's have modems. Even though they were 56K, they could still have a more modern modem built in!

I do remember nearly boiling when my (learned) cousin told me that his friend(always a friend) had a Sammy that he paid £200 for, and he saw it connected to the router all working lol. He got a dreambox in the end...

We shall see, but I like most senior members here(dont want to sound arrogant) will be very skeptical.

Thumbs up Re: What i have heard?

Mendi... your so called friend is a mis leading you and being a gullable soul your falling for it

The members on the forum dont lie and have no reason to mis lead you or keep you ill informed like what your friend is saying.

if your friend is a VM engineer then as Waqas pointed out earlier it doesn't mean nothing what so ever. Infact alot of the VM engineers are usually brain dead and have no idea whats is going on tbh.

Secondly if you read page 1... you will notice that '' The Coder'' has stated what this box is and what its use is.

So its pretty obvious your so called friend is refering to is most like TIVO as what has been quoted in the last few pages of this thread.

Mendi your going round in circles and if you really believe that this so called box is going to work with out the '' internet'' (C/S) then I think you need to question yourself and @ the same time get your smart '' friend'' to come on the forum and set the record straigh.

Am sure he wont come on the forum because he would be embarassed with his ill informed details.

Find a forum which states that N3 has been cracked... I can guarantee that you wont find one. If you think that it wil be cracked in the new years then you dreaming.

This is what usually happens when people @ the pub start talking and when that happens you can tell that they have had far to many drinks. Which in return leads them to believe that '' N3'' is cracked.

TBF on the VM Engineers, we only see the installers who most of the time have no idea as to what is going on. Behind the scenes however, there is a lot of clever engineering going on, in terms of the techy stuff.

ie: They simply could not survive with network engineers/ software developers

I think its fair to say the "engineers" who install cables for us, are the ones that fall in the "thickie brickie" category. There is no need to stereotype the other real technicians/engineers with the same brush
