To be honest if it is just the one that you want to do it would cost far too much to buy the equipment to even entertain it. If you want it done best look on the net or in your yellow pages and find someone to do it for you.

Hi

Thanks for reply.
What about the cables and software cd you can get from Ebay. All that cost around £60.00 -/+. I mean they say that can correct mileage and do other things also.

A lot of tools on ebay SAY they can do lots of things but:

1) only in the hands of trained pro's who know how to use them

and

2) most of this kind of stuff is sold by people who dont even know what they are selling let alone how to use it - or even what it does! Trust me as a trained pro I have bought most of it and maybe 10% does what they claim it does.

Be aware that mileage correction is becoming more and more complicated wit the mileage being stored in more than just the clocks. Making a small mistake could cost you hundreds to put right.

The tools you see for around £60 is probably tachopro. Dont be fooled by the pro bit - it is not a pro tool, but takes a pro to operate it properly!

Hello, i`m new in the forum, but i`ve been doing this job for some time, i`ve got a lot of experience programming dashboard eeproms, and i`m trying to start with dasboards with processors.
With Nec processors is easy, but i`m having a lot of problems with Motorola processors, i`ve got X-prog programmer, but i can`t communicate with processor, what programmer do you propose ?

Hi, i here x-prog is a good progger but others you can use are UPA-USB from elrasoft very good tool with good support, or you can use a basic max interface with motorola cracker soft, or you can use ETL proggers wich are the best for getting past sec bit but its a total remove for these tools whereas upa is incircuit connection.
if your having problem with communicating with mcu its possibly connection problem, you need to sometimes lift pins from board and have your voltage correct, but its same problems for most tools but a bit of research and practice will get you there.

Jakeyfly: thank you very much for your answer, it`s been very instructive. let me ask you a few questions more:
if i work with x-prog, do i have to remove the processor ? ( the programmer comes with wires to connect to the processor )
If not, Is the USB UPA the only one that works just by soldering wires to the processor ?
I`m practising with a Peugeot 206 dashboard ( Motorola hc05h12 ), lifting the 46 and connecting the pins where x-prog user`s manual says, but DEVICE IS SILENT appears all the times.
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi, i dont use x-prog but i know it does connect in circuit and should comm with this mcu, follow xprog instructions but lift pin 51 IRQ from board and try again, you should have about 9 volt at the pin but when left on board it can pull this down
good luck

Digital mileage correction is a big business and is pretty easy to do if you have the knowledge and equipment.

When buying a secondhand car always assume the mileage to be incorrect and look for other signs to indicate the correct mileage. For example wear to the pedal rubbers and steering wheel. Drop / lift to the drivers door. Also check the service record and phone the garages to check the service record is correct since it is easy to order a new service book and fill it in with exactly what you want.
