I've noticed that the games I can beat have gotten reputations for being 'hard' or 'difficult'. These are usually current generation games based on old Nintendo games...that I still can't beat. So is the industry taking it easy on us or are we that good now?

Based on the elapsed time between games released today and those released "back in the day", our gaming skills have significantly increased. When you think about it, many of us have played video games for many hours so naturally - like anything else - you would expect skill levels to increase as you play more

I don't know I cant make video games do anything, I am usually dead in the first 30 seconds. Give me an Atari 2600 and pac man, space invaders or haunted house any day.

Most games in the golden olden days were impossible to complete, as they had no ending, the levels simply just got ever increasingly faster with ever increasing amounts of baddies until you finally lost all your lives, breaking your joystick in the process..

Yes and those were BETTER!!
What fun is it playing a game THAT ENDS?? (Then its no fun playing anymore) For example Pitfall II for atari 2600 (Well the version I have anyway) does have an ending but its a challenge to see how high of a score YOU CAN END THE GAME WITH!! (Its not easy) |
