Default starview combo experiment

hey guys,,,
just experimenting with connections for the combo box, had a play with a 3g router like this one /: NEW MINI 300M usb 11N wireless 802.11n 3G PC wp01 on eBay (end time 28-Nov-10 04:19:24 GMT)
and using a e220 unlocked dongle with a giffgaff sim topped up and credited with a £10 goodybag (check giffgaffs site for more info).
the reason i am doing this experiment is so that i can show people the service working without them having to pay for broadband, they can basically use their existing mobile broadband/dongle sim combination.
the reason i mention giffgaff is because they say they are unlimited without a fair use policy.

now as i have a cline for the sat side this should be easy to set up on a boat or in a remote farm etc all you would need is the router, a dish, the combo of course, dongle sim and credit! anyone can use one of these boxes with this kind of set up, you dont have to be tied to your home broadband.

ive treid a smaller router but wasnt too impressed, it seems you have to have a decent router with a bit of gumph to keep the signal decoded ok.

hope this helps someone out there !

going to do some more experiments as time goes by an dill post the results on here.

with this set up i have a near glitch free service on the sat side of the starview combo and a glitch free service on the cable side.
i allready had the net from giffgaff as i use it with tethering from my iphone to my netbook when out and about.

regards dave
