The mate bought one of these to use on his Ntl cable service here in Dublin and it works a treat. I borrowed it to try on my Ntl digital ariel service (mmds) but could not get it to work. Am I doing something wrong or does it not work on mmds tv. IF not can anyone tell me why, as I presume like cable tv all channels are broadcast over the airwave to mmds ariels and its the card in the pace box in each house which decides what channels you receive. So technally all the channels should be comping into my place via the ariel on the roof.
Also can anyone tell why the tv cable companies cant/dont stop these boxes working, is it just a case of being to expensive to keep changing the encryption on channels so to out smart the Euro-Vox Thanks |

You might need to re-scan in order to pick up the channels.
N*L in the city uses Symbol Rate 6887 not sure what it uses on MMDS perhaps 'brian ireland' might be able to help with that. D |

Brian any chance you can come back to me and let me know what your two settings were please. Also whats the pin you have to put in at the begining for

My understanding is that MMDS uses a different modulation method to Cable, but I could be wrong. I thought MMDS used a similar system to satellite.

Totally off the wall but considering Ntl are broadcasting the signal over my way, if I cancel my sub with them and they left the ariel there( they usually do) would I still get the channels via my Euro-Vox box?.
Also does the Euro-Vox work on satelite like it does on cable ie : it will give you all the channels Thanks |

cubix, if you cancel your subbed box chances are they will turn you off at the green box in the street unless you have broadband with them then just split the signal to your eurovox. And no the eurovox wont work on satalite

Thanks Ron, is there any box that will work on satelite like the Euro-Vox does on cable or is sky's encryption to good
As regards turning me off at the street, you guys dont have it over there but here in ireland Ntl also use an ariel system called MMDS which is what I am on. So from what I can tell I get my signal from a base station through the airwaves. So what i was asking was if I canceled my ntl sub and they come out and take back the pace decoders but leave the ariel on the roof( which they normally do as its more hassel than its worth). Would I still be getting the signal from the base station or do they have the technology to turn you off at the base station? Cubix |

There is a thread about the Irish MMDS on DigitalWorldz forum. You can use a satellite receiver to view the FTA channels, but the Encrypted channels use Conax encryption - the Eurovox will NOT handle Conax, I doubt it will even receive the FTA channels.
