Probably because a lot of what he has to say doesn't really tie in with reality. If you believe all he says then he pretty much single handedly cracked N1 which is a very long way from the truth. At best, he was a middle-man in distributing the derived rom dumps. Whether or not that distribution occured with the consent of his masters is a hotly debated subject !
Never forget that Tarnovsky worked for NDS, possibly one of the most insidious organisations on the planet. You really need to ask yourself what his motivations are for these constant 'revelations' regarding the security of N3, one of the main impediments to the NDS domination of the smartcard market !!! |

I dont think Tarnovsky has any loyalty to anyone, NDS did fire him, after all, if anything he was a scapegoat for NDS antics. He hasnt revelead too much about N3 and perhaps his motivations are to put doubts in the minds of kuldeski and design a new chip for them which will be as secure as NDS. |

Its true that Tarnovsky was made a scapegoat to some small extent but his payoff from NDS involved a great deal of money (which allowed him to form his present company) and even today his ties to his former employers is extremely strong. My suspicion is that Tarnovsky still effectively works for NDS !!! |

Taken from anothersite.... MY GOD THIS GUY SOUNDS LIKE A FRIGGIN STALKER, and u thought that the coder was a bit 'quick' to dismiss Tarnovski Timetrex...Chk this out...
Ok firsly if you have not delt with Chris Tarnovski don't criticize my comments, if you have been taken for us$100k, please feel free to express your views about this con man. Tarnovski was asked to hack a card on sale in the market place, he looked at it (for $800) and said it was a straight forward job for him and would take about a month to give me all the contents of the card and everything needed to re-right software, after 5 months he couldn't complete the work kept making excuses and then will tell you " I can't work like this with you breathing down my back" well no one was breathing down his back only someone asking every other day for results promised to be delivered 4 months before, he kept the money and stopped answering phone calls and emails, depending on where you live and that would be most of us he feels comfortable being "out of reach" from his victoms. He will appear to be a realy nice guy to talk to and do business with but don't be deceived he will drop you like a hot potato as soon as he is ready. Don't get me wrong he does have some good skills but not honest to admit defeat. As for NDS cards he has ofered to unlock their secrets for us$250k with a time frame of 3-5 months for cards made prior to 2003 or $350 for NDS cards made upto 2005 and 6-9 months to complete. He states this as he told me he still has ALL the security manuals from the chip manufacturers that supply the NDS cards, he was asked to return them and did return the originals but made sure he kept copies. He likes to brag about how stupid News corp are as they for got to check there inventory of items they paid for to help him hack cards for them, some of those he told me about are, a us$60,000 lazer ( he uses every day and needs) additional optics for it, $10,000, 2 x needle holders for access to listening in on the chips on his probing station, each NDS paid $2,500 for then thers the optics for his microscope which set them back about $30,000. He also has about 250-350 of NDS's cards they issued him with for testing, and many incidentals he needed. He laughs when talking about how "f*cking dumb are those guys they forgot about all this", if they came back here with a search warrant "half my lab would be empty", "dumb f*cks", "I'd be screwed trying to replace that ****". He has offered to unlock the Irdeto 5.3 version cards for $150,000 as they have a phillips chip that "I'm very familiar with" and can be done in 2-3 months with all the files needed to produce your own. He has also offered to do N3 cards for $150k as they are far easier and the market would eat it up like p*ssy. On a personal note, Tarnovski lives usually alone at, xxxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxx, xxxxxxxxxxUSA. In a two storey house, Has an in ground pool in the back yard and 2 dogs that bark but don't bite, He has a basic home alarm system which suprised me to see with only modest coverage in the house, that any average thief could disable, so quite a suprise, In his garage (left side of the house) he has his FIB (focused Ion Beam) microscope, cost $245,000 secondhand (new $1.3mil) In the back section of the garage behind the FIB he has a sink were he dumps the used acid down once he's finished with it (nice guy, screw the environment) and the fume cabinet seen in the wired video, Directly above the garage is the room he calls his lab There is probably about $350-$500 worth of gear there from stinger programers and circuit boards that are stackable to broot force an attack when needed these were also paid for by NDS and by the way partially designed and made by Chris's dad who makes most of his circuit boards, As well as 3 servers containing A FORTUNE IN INFORMATION on ALL the work he has previously done in hacking, I could only guesstimate how much that information could sell for or generate $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in the market, with that information someone could make 10's of millions from exploiting weeknesses in anything from printer chips to CURRENT secure smartcards And given Chris is a stickler for keeping records of everything, those servers are almost priceless. Chris loves his Starbucks (mocca with 3 scoops of strawberry) so you can usually see him at the Vista Starbucks at least twice a day, usually about 7-8am and about 1.30-3pm every day, If he has his daughters Cortny or Stacey staying over (his wife caught him cheeting on her several times and finally devored him) he drops his daughter Cortny off between 8 and 8.30am weekdays as Stacy drives to school herself, most other times he is home playing in his lab. There is so much more but this is only a sample of what to expect if you deal with the devil. Big Gun uh uh Big Con
