i start up my laptop ,put in the password then nothing ,just a blank blue screen amy ideas would be great

sounds like a HDD problem.

Try booting up in safe mode, or last known good configuration, press the F8 key on boot up for the options, if that doesn't do it please post more details of your laptop and operating system.

started in safe mode ,ran scans and fingers crossed all ok thanks very much
