Do you think the mute button is compatible with my girlfriend - Spanish, 1980 deluxe model?

Thumbs up Feedback on the Harmony 300 remote

Hi all,
My Logitech Harmony 300 just arrived so I thought I'd post some feedback on it. It cost £13 with free delivery from Play.com (thanks mikie8 for the link)
It's very well built and feels nice to hold and it's by far more sensitive than any of my remotes, especially the HD combo remote plus it comes with 2 Duracell batteries which is a nice touch.
All the familiar buttons are there and setting it up was a doddle -
It has a micro USB port at the end, plugged it into my PC and went to myharmony.com website, set up an account so that it saves my details and then entered the model numbers of my 3 devices; LG TV, Samsung surround sound (quite old) and of course the HD combo. Everything was listed and was synced to my remote without issues. I'm using Win7 Pro 64bit.

Every function of the HD remote is available on the Harmony 300 but I did find a couple of things I wasn't happy with, when I used the volume buttons, no matter what device I had chosen, the TV volume would change and not the chosen device. Also, I couldn't select the different input types on my surround sound. No problem.. plugged the remote back into the PC, logged into myharmony where you can change button functions - you have a pic of the remote and a list of all your devices available commands in a drop down list, simply drag a command onto a button - re-sync and job done.

One thing I love is the 'Watch TV' button. pressing this powers on or off both TV & HD combo!

Bottom line:
If you need an all in 1 remote or even a replacement HD combo remote, this is brilliant and can't beat it on price. New HD combo remotes I've seen for a ridiculous £30!

10/10

*update - It's now £9.99 with free delivery! get it here

yeh, mine was a little slow at arriving too.
I just added a forth device to it, a Microsoft remote for media centre PC's. It didn't know the correct buttons as I didn't know the exact model number.
Then I discovered 'Teaching' mode. Point the unknown remote device at the bottom of the Harmony (whilst plugged in via USB) Press a button on the unknown remote, Harmony detects it and allows you to assign it to a button! Brilliant again!!

aha thats cool so they are a learning remote as well,,, they just get better!

they must be mad selling them so cheap, a good learning remote can be £50 plus so this new price of a tenner is extremely cheap esp with the net update facility...

seen these on ebay for £45+ so nows the time to grab these remotes if anyone out there is considering buying one.

you watch tho next week they will be £7 !!

hope mine comes soon , looking forward to playing with it,,,, just thinking how sad am i awaiting a remote control to play with,, theres got to be more to life!

my last toy was a toy pig that talks but the twist is it talks in latin,, nows thats a cool toy!

hurry up play.com and send me my new remote!!!

regards dave

lol just checked the pig out on youtube and they say it speaks latin but my opinion is that isnt latin its good old backslang which i havent heard of for at least 10 years.. mind you that makes the talking pig even more fun , backslang is a language of my teens so it takes me back a fair few years!

thank god for technology lol!
