I'm stumped sb4100

if so what am i suppossed to do now i bought a sb4100 off ebay and tried changing the mac using [FONT='Arial Black','sans-serif']http://192.168.100.1/07-0123456789AB as per the instructions I got with it[/font]
is this the right way to go about things as I just cant get it working

I have removed your unique customer number for you. The UBR looks correct. What firmware does the Modem have on it? If it's hackware the address to change mac is http://192.168.100.1/hack.html - I'm not 100% sure the flag to use for Fiberware

Cheers, i have managed to figure out how to change the mac, I just cant find a mac outside my area.

the sb4100 needs a usb driver removal tool for it to work,xp will see it and it will be in device manger but won't connect to the net.if you want the removal tool pm me and i will email the software to you...you may be lucky but i have one and every pc i have used on it requiers the usb software to be used

cheers, im using ethernet ive got mac from a different segment on my network, i can change the mac no problem using the link in my first post it just does not work work, firmware is fibercoax,
im on cpc3-stkn7-0-0-custxxx.midd.cable.ntl.com
macs i got are from cpc1-stkn5-0-0-custxxx.midd.cable.ntl.com

it fails on Establish Time Of Day Failed
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP
dont know if there is somthing else i need to do apart from change mac

try this...click start then type in the run bar "cmd " (with-out the quote marks) a window will open,now type " ipconfig /renew " (with-out the quote marks).....also try a factory reset of the modem then power down for 5 mins your pc and modem...remove the rj45 from your pc after the 5 min power up the modem+pc when your pc is on desktop plug in the rj45.......now try things again

We left this feature for advanced users that wants to change FW's temporarily (an example would be going to docsis 1.1 FW and back to 1.0) and also to prove that serial cables isnt needed to do this. Rebooting will restore our FW from flash

A.) Yes

Q.) What is the stealth mode afterall for ?
A.) It disables the HFC interface and releases the HFC IP, which is used by ISPs so to access your cablemodem, via SNMP and others.

Q.) Using flag /01- , will i loose network access (internet) ?
A.) No, you won't. It will make your cablemodem stealthy against intrusions, from the HFC side.

Q.) Where can i see the config name that i'm using atm ?
A.) Go to the fibercoax tab, and it will be on the top of the page

Q.) Will i have to enter the config file name, each time i reboot ?
A.) No. the config file name that you have set previously, will be retained after booting.

Q.) How do i boot from network ?
A.) Setup a FTP server with IP 192.168.100.10, put a kernel in "/opt/vwMIPS_1_0_1_fcs/target/config/sb4200/vxWorks.st" of FTP server, and create a user with the following settings : username : jmcqueen ; password : rickey7

@ cottonj21 - what is the signal strength like, is your area pure NTL or ex C&W? if the latter, you may have the wrong modem.

i have a eurovox max,
the modem has the hacked firmware fibrecoax, im trying to do a mac swap i got some macs off someone in segment stkn3
I change the mac using http://192.168.100.1/07-0123456789AB and i see it has changed but when logging onto the modem i see that 2 parts fail
