Would I be right in thinking you are trying to create a USB slot on your TV? in that case no

However there are plenty of devices that have an HDMI output as well as a usb input meaning it will read from your usb and display on the tele via its hd output

It would help if you would explain what you are trying to do

I can't see this working, HDMI provides audio and video signals whereas USB provides a data signal.

Thanks for the responses. I am seeing if I can create a usb slot somehow on my tv by utilising a spare hdmi slot.
My spare tv in my bedroom has a usb slot that I can plug a memory stick in and watch the files I have saved (avi/mp4 etc,) and as my tv in my lounge does not have a usb slot, I thought I'd open this thread. I guessed not, but you can't blame a guy for trying!
If anyone can think of anything, please let me know.

The idea is just not feasible at all mate.

If your equipment does not have a usb port then you just have to live with it.

Alternatively you can invest in a media centre box which let you stream all videos and so on to the TV.

USB can carry audio signals, take USB headsets for example.

as mentioned do a search for media players , some very cheap little boxes about that will allow you to connect a usb stick to a media player with a hdmi output for the tv .
