Default Power Supply

My power supply has had its day. I have 2 power supplies I was given from scaped PCs. Can I use any of these supplies, or is there special specifications to follow?

When mine went I went to the local computer shop and got a replacement for £15-00 brand new! Most are interchangable size for size if the plugs are the same.....

Some older PSU's do not come with the V core plug that some motherboards need to power it but there not expensive like bilsat said.
