I recently had a triax td110 dish and motor fitted it was a Navigator motor, but the motor lasted a day or so(plastic gearing),so the fitter came back and fitted a triax td88 and a new motor, now all is fine apart from I cannot get 28.E which is needed, because of the neighbours conifers where as before with the bigger dish it was pulling it in, I am just asking do you think the Alsat superior dark motor could handle the weight of the triax td110.I know they state upto 1.4 then in the smaller literature they state 1.2. But as anyone any experiences with this dish and motor setup can it handle the bigger triax thank you in advance for your/any replies

I'm running the Triax TD110 with a Icecrypt DM101 motor put up by Robbo and it works a treat (Nylon gears) I suspect that your motor was faulty from the start as I used to sell these but won't touch them now as 20% have been faulty. Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply, i did suspect the motor was faulty because after only a couple of hours a red light started to flash on the motor, the fitter told me it had jumped a cog because the dish was too heavy for it, that's why I've got a metal geared motor now hopefully it should handle the weight otherwise i'll have to save and get a ally gibertini 1.0 m

Can't you just get the neighbours to cut their trees? If you do get a larger dish, which is always better, for the weaker satellites, the trees will keep growing and you will eventually lose signal again.
You might be better off fixing a small, fixed, dish for 28.2E. |

I wish it was that easy asking the neighbours to cut it back but she is a tree hugger I chopped a tree down on my property at the front of the house because it was starting to interfere with the telephone lines and she sulked thing is I get on with them and they where here first so I just want to keep the peace, but believe me I have just cut the conifer back anything that was hanging over my side as now gone, what it is it's catching the right hand side of the tree so it doesnt matter how tall it grows it's already about 25' if not bigger, I will always be able to get past the right handside with a bigger dish , obviously with the slightly bigger dish I was pulling the signal in but the td88 is just a bit too small, I was just wondering if the dark motor would handle the weight of the td110

Funnily enough, I did put a TD110 on a Navigator motor too, about 6 months back. It turned OK, but had sooo much play in it that it was sagging too much the more it got away from centre. I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with the dish size but more to do with the motor quality.
I have a TM2300 motor I think it is, on my TD110, and it works very well, I have had it on at least a couple of years now. I do get a tiny bit of backlash, which I think is pretty normal after running for a while. Even the best quality Diseqc motors will get backlash over time. Actually, LOL, Southernsatellite originally had a STAB motor (expensive) on his 1m dish, but after a number of years the backlash had become exessive, so he gave me an Icecrypt to put on for him. Yes, the Darkmotor will handle the TD110. Though none of the Diseqc motors last forever to be honest.(But can go for 10 years or so if lucky, but pretty much shagged out by that time). Only a polar mount will really stand the test of time, though actuators generally fail after a while too, and need changing. The first motor I had on my TD110, was a tiny Stab HH90, and that worked OK for a fair while ( a year or so), but got ruined when I put a really heavy Fibo 90 on it.

Thank you for your replies, could you please advise me which polar mount and what size/brand actuator you recommend for a future purchase. I am new to all this unfortunately, I have read up a little but nothing on polar mounts etc.

Polar mounts are usually designed specifically for a particular manufacturer.
Triax do one for theirs I believe. So do Gibertini for theirs. Actuators are universal, but come in different sizes, and basically, quality wise you seem to get what you pay for. I've never fitted one, just adjusted what's already in place a few times.
