Default starview hd combo connections

hey guys, not being able to find my destruction manual for the combo, and having just bought a sony bravia 40 inch lcd for the bedroom i need to ask a couple of questions, has anyone got a set up with a hdmi splitter? or does anyone use component output on the combo, what im trying to find out is i need to extend the hdmi or component 10 metres or so to the upstairs tv and am looking for the best method to do so, im thinking hdmi splitter box then a 10 metre hdmi cable , i have researched and thats well in the tolerances of hdmi signals.
but im not sure as i could go the component cable route but on loads of devices that would only be 1080i which is not what im after, i want full 1080p at the tv upstairs. not sure if the combo does 1080p through the component.

anyone got a similar set up can shed any light on which method to use?

i fancy the hdmi splitter and long cable but want to get opinions before i spend the hard earned!

regards dave

your tv will not even do 1080p it will only do 1080i..

The only sources of 1080p are Blu-Ray and SOME video games. cable tv will not be 1080p, that's why when you see the 1080i when your watching sports.

Nobody is broadcasting 1080p at the moment because of all the space it takes. To you 1080p, you must have a Blu-Ray player connected to your TV with either a HDMI cable or component cables and play back a DVD that was produced in 1080p.

yeah fair comment, i should have said i want as close to 1080p as possible so 1080i !
the combo upscales most of the channels, which is good, all i want to know is what would you go for the hdmi splitter option or the component cable option.
ive never used component always hdmi so would be good to get someones experience of longer component and hdmi splitters.

regards dave

I like HDMI but some will say when you use a long cable you lose some of the quality of the picture on screen, But who can tell as it will only be a smallest amount... the eye will not see it..
