Default Acekard 2i and DSi XL

Son has an Acekard 2i in his DS Lite and wants an XL for his birthday. I tried the card in an XL yesterday to check it works but could only get an error message!

Other posts here suggest this should work, so any advice appreciated!
Cheers

you may need to update your acecard fro 1.4.1 firmware.

links and instruction on this are available from the official acecard site

OK, checked version and it was 1.6 - checked site and have updated to 1.8.1

Are you saying I should ignore these and put AKAIO 1.4.1 on for it to work?

no m8,
you are getting confused with the firmware of the acecard and the firmware that the dsi is running.

the best firmware out for your acecard is akaio 1.8.1
this is like the loader that goes on your microsd card.

new dsi's have had a firmware upgrade to version 1.4.1
you can tell which version your dsi is by going into setting with no gamecard plugged in.

this update was introduced for the sole reason of blocking flashcarts.....

now,
if your acecard was made pre september 2010 then it will not work on the dsi's 1.4.1.
alot of flashcarts were blocked acecards, r4i cards tti cards etc

if your acecard was made later than this, then it will work on dsi 1.4.1 because acecard updated the card kernal.....

if you have an older card, then it is not really a problem.
an update is available...
note.
you are updating the acecard itself and not the firmware on the sd card...

the only problem with doing this update is that you need a dsi running pre 1.4.1 firmware or a dslite to do it.
then the card will work on the new dsi...

another point worth mentioning is that there are fake acecard2i's out there.
these cost less than real acecards and work well on dslites.
the problem with them is that they do not take the kernal update, so the 1.4.1 update doesn't work.....

i hope this makes some sort of sense...
i've tried to explain as best i can, but i've had a few....
and not sure if i'm putting it across right....

cheers....

Hi, i have 2 dsi xl consoles for my boys. 1 is running on 1.4E and the other on 1.4.1E. If i buy the latest acecard 2i, will it work on both machines?
Also where do folks recommend purchasing from, checked out a few sites but a bit unsure. Cheers.

Just realised why they are on different firmwhere. I set up one to go online and it updated to 1.4.1E. So if i do the same with the other console a new acecard should work? Am i right or am i talkin crap? lol

no mate you make perfect sense.
the new acecards should come ready for 1.4.1 firmware.

look here
or here

i have bought from both recently, cards came from both 1.4.1 ready...

the main diffrence between them being price and delivery times....

yes m8,
there are three delevery options with r4i gold.
all are supposed to be delivered in three days.
my delivery took over a week, but i think it was down to bad weather, x-mass.

priceangels can take uo to three weeks, but delivery is free...
more recent order have arrived within two weeks though.....

by the time you add delivery charges on r4i site, the acecard costs over twice as much.....

depends how much of a hurry you are in i suppose......
