Default Internal hard drive used as USB?

I have a KDL-37EX503 TV and I watch videos from my USB memory stick on my TV.

This works fine however when I try to watch it from my external hard drive (Seagate Momentus 5400.2 60 GB), which I have converted to USB external drive using at extension attachments, my TV doesn't read the files I have put on there via USB.

The TV reads the files from the internal hard drive, such as system32 etc.

Is there a way to access those files and folders structure, ie get to those files that you see in the internal hard drive, using my PC (I don't have a laptop anymore).

Basically I want to put files in my internal drive but I am using the above mentioned hard drive as external drive (USB). Is this possible?

Thank You.

I have found out what is causing this: the TV is only reading the 2.5" IDE to USB adapter, so it displays all the files from it, it is not reading the actual hard drive.

Will my TV always do this or is it worth trying with another adapter. Can anyone recommend a better 2.5" IDE to USB adapter, not the whole enclosure.

If I understand you correctly, with the files on USBstick you can play them on your TV via a USB interface. How do you get them there?

I suspect that you may have it used as a partitionless device, and don't have the same structure as the HDD.

USBsticks partitioned like a HDD give Windows (certainly in the past) some confusion, and you have to use something like linux to handle them in that mode. This means that the TV isn't set to use them like this, and thus won't handle a normally structured HDD seen as a USB device.

That is only my preliminary thinking, with no way to check on your setup to verify it.
