svcombo help required!

hi guys,
i have my hdcombo working fine on the cable side but the sat side still confuses(i have never had or installed satellite b4) me,i have trawled through countless forums and not found the answers i need,
i have carling 0712 installed,
if i update to f528 or grooverider i cannot get any cable channels,and in the network settings the cs setting for ustream has been replaced with hs and not cs with no further options and it says connected(connected to what?)
i have followed many tuturials, flash with this first then reset then flash with that etc and with the same result,all i want is the fta channels that vm dont air,
if someone would be kind enough to guide me through what i need to know i will donate a drink to the site,
as it stands i have a dish installed and pointing in the right direction,no card installed,
what next?

Carling+_F531_1207.UAD is the latest software, I use this it opens cable and Freesat channels on the sat astra 2 (28.2 deg east), have you scanned the channels in on this sat, there are 3 free hd channels, itv1 hd, bbc hd & bbc 1 hd and lots of fta sd channels! as far as a paying c/s server goes the provider will instruct you how to set it up, I believe you it uses cccam 214 software I think this is installed with the latest software but I am not sure, maybe someone can confirm this? I am assuming you have the combo+ with lan?
