Default Re: Watching Sky in another room using RF

Hi Mark if you wanted to you could buy a magic eye and use the output you are using but you will need to re enable the power to the outlet so that the magic eye gets the power from the box. You can then change the channel from the bedroom, very handy if you are in bed and want to see a different channel, you can use your existing remote or buy another one for the bedroom.

Good idea revird at least he will know if the box is sending a signal or not, but it seems to be a new, or at least a reconditioned, box so it should not be the problem, but you can never tell.

Regards Wez

Hi revird. Thanks for the info and the step by step instructions - that is exactly what I need! I took the TV down to the lounge, connected it to the sky box with the lead and it tuned into Sky - brilliant. Then I took the TV back upstairs and tried again but no luck. I reduced the frequency to 50 on the sky box but still no joy, so reduced it even further to 30 and still no luck. Other than a faulty cable running through the house, could it be anything else or is that all it can be now? Thanks again everyone.

Hi Mark it has got to be the cable mate, it worked on the other cable, have a very close look at the connectors on each end of the cable, as I said even one little filament from the shield, the woven outer part of the cable, is touching the inner, solid part of the cable it will short and there is no way the signal is going to get to the TV. From all the work you have done you seem to have narrowed your problem down to the cable for sure.

Regards Wez

Thanks everyone. Turns out the coaxial cable was damaged. Replaced that and picked up sky in the bedroom straight away. Thanks again for all the suggestions and advice.

Hi mark glad you got it sorted mate, you can now go for the magic eye option and change channels from the bedroom, very handy they are, though I do not have one, I got one box in the bed room, one connceted that is.

Hi Wez, thanks for all your help. I will get an eye for the bedroom TV but have been warned off getting ones from ebay. Can you recommend any? I saw one on ebay for about a fiver which is a small one for flat screen TV's (which is what I need) and the seller's feedback is excellent. I would also like to run a 2nd extension from the Sky box to the kitchen and have an eye there too - is that possible? The RF output 1 socket on my Sky box is free so presumably I could use that? The RF Power setting is ON in the Sky box so presumably I wouldn't have to change anything there? Do I need some sort of splitter or booster if I am running 2 extensions from one Sky box? I realise all three TV's would have to be on the same Sky programme but that is not a problem. Thanks again for all your help and sorry for all the questions! Cheers, Mark.
