avi file wont play on dvd player

Hi guys,

i need your help please,my mates got a phillips hts3520 dvd home theatre system and it wont play avi files from a usb stick. he has formatted to fat32 but still no luck.your help will be much appreciated.

i dont think many of the standard dvd players allow you to watch avi,can you not convert them to dvd?

philips dvdplayers play most files i have one a different model but it plays just about anything but some people produce avi's using some very strange codecs that even my player sometimes wont play there is a free software called gspot which tells you what codecs are in the file and usually if its playable . then again it could be something as simple as a rubbish usb stick plenty of them about

i had the same problem and bought one of these instead, its cheap and plays everything u can throw at it.

Is that all avi files , if so then the usb drives not compatable ,try another 1,

if it's only some that dont play run them through avimuxgui and that should sort them out , doesnt take long

I've got one of those as well and still get the odd avi I have to run through avimuxgui to get it to play
