live streaming from internet to laptop problem

Hiya

Ive been trying to watch live streaming sports but for some reason it starts and just keeps sticking all the time so impossible to watch anything. also sticks while trying to watch lfc.tv

my laptop is about 1 year old and has just recently been rebooted bk to factory settings. (the streaming didnt even work b4 i did that)

specs:

Acer Aspire 5536
AMD athlon 64x2 duel-core processor ql-64 (2.1 ghz, 1mb L2 cache)
3 gb ddr2
500gb hdd
acer nplify 802.11b/g/draft-n WLAN

Ive done a speed check on my virgin broadband which says i get just under 10 meg download speed.
(but when i download music or movies it never downloads higher than 1 meg) dont know why?

i have adobe flashplayer 10 and its got all updates
and im running on windows vista.

can anyone help me please or have any ideas why it sticks all the time?
