Default MAX232 RS232 to TTL Converter {Help}

I brought the above programer, this one to be exact, MAX232 RS232 To TTL Converter / Adapter Module Board on eBay (end time 21-Jan-11 21:48:52 GMT)

It came with a 5101 cable, and there was a note on it specficly saying make sure you connect the cable the correct way around otherwise the board will blow, anyhow i brought a serial to usb converter to go with it, so i can connect it to my laptop and then i soldered 4 pin headers to my SB5101 as bellow, MAX 232 tab,

Connected the 5101 cable (the correct way around) to the pin headers on the SB5101 board, long story short connected it all up, (didn't plug in thw USB to computer though).

Then i got a working blackcat software, that loaded up fine and ended with cann't find manufacturer etc etc ( i do not have the usb cable in the computer at this point) Running XP. Now i connect the usb end of the Usb to serial adaptor to my pc, and clicked detect flash and at the bottom i get an ERROR: blackcat cable is not connected.

Is there any driver or anything i've missed out for the programer, as i just can't seam to get this programer to show up my board. ??

Any help appreciated !

You need to solder the jtag pin header in first and flash the noisy bootloader with blackcat (jtag software), once you've done that it's time to move onto the serial port
