Default Connecting laptop to Bravia TV?

Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone can help me with connecting my laptop to my Bravia. Sometimes I connect them via the HDMI slot and it works and other times it just doesn't work no obvious reason. Like today I spent over an hour trying to make it connect and all I got was no recognition or just my desktop picture appearing on my TV screen and nothing else. Is there a specific way to do this so it works at the very first go?

Thanks

Just works at the very first go.

I would try changing your Hdmi lead and see if that makes a difference and also I would try it on another Hdmi port and see if that solves anything

But usually its a Straight forward process when you connect a laptop to a TV it should just appear.

However do you check your Display properties to make sure that its set properly.

Kind regards

IS a HDMI lead the only(or best) way to connect a laptop to a tv?

HDMI cable is the best way for connecting..
If sometimes you're just seeing your desktop background on the screen then your laptop is only outputting an extended desktop via the HDMI TV ouput ... Like unadkat says, make sure your graphics card settings for TV display are configured correctly, there may also be a tick box for something like "always detect TV type" that you need to tick, that may improve things for you.. Also, you may actually need to invoke the TV output manually on your laptop, pressing the "FN" key and one of the top row F keys on your keyboard, on my laptop it would be "FN" and "F5" to switch between displays.. Hope this helps..
