Default Sky+ Multi Room Set Up

Hello.....

I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times and I should just look through the forums and find the older posts, but to be honest I didn't fancy it! (it is twenty past nine on a sunday evening to be fair)

Anyways......I've got Sky+ HD with the full sky world package, and phone and broadband all with Sky.

I have a spare Sky+ box from my parents and I phoned Sky and asked them to come set it up, they told me they cant install any old boxes not brought from them. So it'd cost me 200 quid for a new box plus 60 quid for set up, to which I politely said no thank you.

So the obvious question(s), can I set up the multi room my self, is it easy to do and what gear do I need??

Hope someone can help me out??

Thanks in advance!!

Si

I have a Sky+HD box and another in the bedroom which was a secondhand Sky+, when I rang them I asked to subscribe to multi-room and all they did was send me another card and when I received it I rang them to pare the card to the receiver and that was it. Okay I had to sign up to an 18mth term and of course pay the extra £10 a month.

Yes, probably, but its not difficult if you are able to gain access. Get some wf100 cable, some screw on f connectors and some cable clips and away you go. If you have problems, get an independent satellite installer to run the cables for you.

If you get stuck give me a shout I'm close to sevenoaks.

Does it not depend on whether you have a at least a quad LNB?

I was told it did, and that you would need a Quad LNB, but was also told that with most Sky+ setups the dishes have the quad LNB already

Yep, he has Sky+already, so there will already be a quad LNB in place.

yeah, figured as much, just thought it was worth mentioning though as some subbies are absolute a-holes and will cut all kinds of corners. They pay for their own kit so will never be as liberal with install as proper sky installers.
I've had bad experiences with subbies in 2 houses in the last 12 months.
