Have one of these laptops and wireless is on and connected to the router so it says but when i go into network connections its not connected any ideas.......

Which model? Some of these laptops have different Wi Fi options which can be selected by pressing a combination of keys, check your manual.
Also is there a Wi Fi light showing that it is switched on?
