Default V+HD box aint all that ..

Got a V+HD box installed today.. Been comparing its HD output to that of my TV's built in Freesat HD (switching between the two on same channel)... Using same 1080i resolution, exactly same picture settings (brightness, contrast, sharpness etc) the HD quality from the built-in freesat HD is far superior to that coming from the V+HD box.. Why is that ?? The definition on freesat I notice to be so much sharper, almost looks 3D its that much clearer, the V+HD is very much visibly less sharp, less depth, less focussed if you know what I mean... Is the HD feed on Cable a much lower bitrate to that on freesat? or could it be Virgin just get SD stuff and upscale it at there end then broadcast it out as HD?
hmm, any ideas..

Yup noticed that too, Another annoying thing is that some US programs that are on the HD channels are not in the correct display format and you end up with two large black lines down the side cutting off a good bit of the screen.

You end up having to switch to the none HD channel just to be able to watch it full screen, also i don't think virgin are streaming full HD bit-rate on some of the channels as it gets blocky at times and is hard to tell the different between the SD and HD versions.

I was lucky tho as I managed to get the V+ box free of charge but they tried to charge us for the activation, we managed to get them to credit our account tho.

-Off topic-
We basicly called them up and told them sky was doing us and better deal and we were leaving lol so they gave us 20mb net and a V+ box for free anyone needing one its worth a try just make sure they don't charge you for activation if they do ask to speak to a manager and tell them you were told its *all* free and if they don't remove the fee you will send them the box back and go to your old package!

Is it just me or does the V+ box make some noise?
