Default External HDD wont play on SV7

Hi,

A friend recorded some movies on to my WD 250gb Ext HDD and they wont play on my SV7. The SV7 shows the movies on the HDD but wont play them. If i record something from the SV7 - no problem.

Any ideas please?

Thanks,

itll more than likeley be the format of the movies,,, they would need converting to a comnpatible format to play on the sv7. check what format the recorded ones are and convert to match id say.

regards dave

Thanks, i can see that they are recorded in a number of different formats, like divX.

What do i have to do to convert them to play on the sv7?

I have had a good look through the forum and assuming i'm on the right path, i note the SV7 supports Mpeg2 so am i looking for SW to convert the current formats to support Mpeg2?

Much appreciated.

Hi, the movies need to be converted to .ts file format. Take a look around the net and you will find out how to do that.

Having looked at the user manual, would i be correct in thinking that the SV7 only plays mpeg II!?

Is there a firmware upgrade that allows it to read xvid divx etc?
