my mates net was similar to yours hes with virmin and untill he got a sv box he didnt know his net was faulty.
the box was stuttering on some channels and not others and untill he did a speed test he had no idea what was wrong.

he contacted virmin and they told him there was nothing they could do as the fault was prob with his pc! but strangeley enough he saw a virmin engineer at his local blue box a day later and after a couple of hours he did another speed test and then he was getting the 10meg he was paying for and all the boxes problems dissappeared.

contact virmin mate if yr not getting at least 8mbps then your either being throttled by virmin or your paying for a lot more than they are supplying you.
tell them your internet is painfully slow and can they sort it out before you move to sky bb,, of course dont mention the box!!
