Default 100% confirmed

I was the eternal optimist until:

I have just had a text reply from my supplier who owns a wholesale sat business, he informed me starview server had been busted.
Strange thing is he replied with a name to contact for further details, so i called his business landline and this person answered asking to help, said he's just started there, sounds very fishy, maybee he's been busted aswell and its an undercover, i never spoke to this helpful assistant in fear of being implicated, watch your back lads if you trade

He is based in the B-Ham area, so not too far away from the alleged bust.

Strange that i have heard that the server has overloaded due to demand and hopefully will be up and running for the weekend .

no one more than me hopes that is correct, but i very much doubt it. my supplier wouldn't have sent that text without knowing something.
I have kept positive throughout since wed last week, even arguing the toss with other members mwho have been knocking SV, but i think i have to concede now.
BUT....who's to say there's not a new C/S setup in the very near future, a little firmware update and we're back in business

Why are people still speculating as to the cause of the outage when its plastered over quite a few papers ?????

Come on people, wake up and smell the roses !

Of course they were raided but NOT the server (as most people know it) the thing that was busted was the 'uploader' device. This is the thing that actually harvests the CW's for all the various channels and, of necessity, must be present in the UK and connected to a VM line (A similar device or devices will be present for KV, its unavoidable). The actual server for both SV and KV (the thing clients connect to) is overseas and is therefore very unlikely to be busted.

Its also known that the raid was NOT orchestrated by VM (they were as apparently suprised as everybody else) or, infact, anything whatsoever to do with TV hacking regardless of what the papers are reporting. The raid was actually in connection with a totally seperate matter which, if your really interested, you can find out about easily enough with a little digging. When presented with a room full of equipment and a load of VM cards though, the local fuzz obviously called in VM security for a look see !

If SV wish to restart then its not particularly difficult for them. The uploader is basically just stuff you can purchase at just about any computer shop and possibly a few SV boxes running a modified firmware. There's nothing that cannot be replaced in 48 hours or so excepting maybe the actual subscription cards. They will need to replace 20 or so of them and this will likely be the hardest part of the job. I would expect channels to come on in batches as various subscription levels are replaced.

Unfortunately, the cards that were nabbed will probably be traced back to original customers. I'd expect some further arrests in connection with this in the next few days (although we may not hear much about it - VM may prefer to simply terminate contracts and disconnect). If I had 'donated' a card to SV for this enterprise i'd be pretty worried around now !

It always angers me when KV owners start spouting 'You should have spent more'. You forget, some of poor schmucks spent £200+ on a HD combo and when you don't have a sat dish it's as useless as the 6's & 7's right now!
