Possibly not as the 30Meg seems to require a new modem/router upgrade and is likely to run on the new DOCSIS overlay rather than the old DOCSIS1 system.

If anythiing, its likely to be the start of the phasing out of the DOCSIS1 system and therefore the reduction of cloned modems on the system.

Its a pity about the £30 one of cost, but yep new hardware is issued so most likely will be the new docsis version.

should get interesting with some competition in the market.

not keen on this new superhub even though it has gigabit connections. (i dont have any gigabit connections on any of my devices)

would rather then send me a new modem but without the router built in which i know they do.

£30 one off wouldnt break the bank

That is untrue.

Existing 20Mb users who do not want to pay the £30 to go to 30Mb will remain on 20Mb.

I'm sure eventually, they will be pushed up to 30Meg for free, possibly with a lower download limit or something. Is often only the early adopters who pay for upgrades !

VM want to switch everybody over to the new overlay at some point so they can switch off Docsis1. This upgrade is only the first phases of that move which they seem to be trying to keep relatively revenue neutral.
