Question Pin codes & feedback

I can't believe i'm back on this site already looking for more advice

It was only a few weeks ago i sussed how to programme my fun cards for my N*L digital and now virgin have gone and done this!!

Anyway...i'm not sure what breed of Pace box i have but i got it second hand and therefore don't know the pin. From reading earlier threads and google, Pin codes can apparently be changed through the engineers menu. However; when i open the engineers menu the section dedicated to the Pin code does not allow 'editing' and has **** representing the current code. My theory is that maybe if i can find the pin code i can turn off the parental control and hopefully this will bring back my movies.

Again from reading earlier threads, i think i may need a feedback switch as currently when i hit the red button to 'enter pin' in the movies menu the 'loading' symbol appears...sits there for a while...then disappears having done nothing. Its because of this that i'm hoping the parental control may side-step the feedback problem. Has anyone sussed out a way around my issue yet??

You can change the PIN in the ENG menu

You erase the old pin by shorting the battery etc, In the pace 4001 there's a red jumper next to the battery, remove the jumper for about 30 secs, then put It back.

After you have done this go back to the ENG menu, you will find the PIN section blank and editable.

PS. you need to remove the cover and make sure it's not connected to the mains when you do this.

Cheers rootsman. I think my box is a Pace 4010 model. I managed to change the pin, but now i need to activate it and i'm getting promted to ring virg*n to do this. Before i ring i think my box has had the feedback removed so if i give them my address over the phone will the be able to activate it?...without me getting into trouble?

Something wrong there m8, the PIN does not need activating. If you have managed to change it, that all you need to do.

Well i 'activated' the pin (i think it was because the pin i had entered wasn't agreeing with the one held by Vir*in. Unfortunately my parental cotrol idea didn't work and i still have to find a way to get my movies etc back

You must be in a different area and the net id needs re-setting, even if your in pure ntl the 4000 will work but wont auto set, you need to buy a programmer and use net id v2 final editor files on a fun card, and when you have set it re-programme with files for your area. you will need box key and ird codes for your box, you may be able to get them from card or you may have to buy a jtag, check to see if they are written under box or inside cover etc.

Hi,

Just joined the site - great info here !!
Anyway, I have a Pace Di 4000-T modded cable box (ex-TW) but don't know the PIN code (to watch movies)

I tried 2 codes (1111 and 1234) which failed so only have 1 attempt left before it locks up.

I tried to edit the code in the engineers menu but it cannot be changed.

Anyone know how to change it or what the code could be ??

If I input 1 more wrong code (and it locks up), how long before I get the 3 re-tries again ??
(I input the 2 wrong codes 3-4 weeks ago and its still at 1 attempt remaining ie. it hasn't gone back to 3 re-tries).

Thanks for the help.
