im new to all this, i live in north london. i want it for major online gaming, so yea i want it fast, can you help me please, i dont know were to begin...

Are your soldering skills up to a standard that will allow you to work on chips this size?

Also I wouldn't get your hopes up as far as speed goes, most people are very happy when they get a stable 10Mb connection these days.

so are you saying the only way is to chip the modem?

No, ideally you will flash the SPI chip that is already on the board.

SPI flashers are available through Ebay or perhaps you're capable of putting your own together?

Personally, I avoid Ambit modem as there is no access to the JTAG points on the board.

I have a few modems at home but the ones that get the most use are the SB5100 and the SB5101 as there's no danger of bricking them as I have JTAG access.

ok so i basically need to either flash the currect chip or buy a pre flashed chip???

i would rather flash it myself...

what exactly do i need for my ambit 256???

and what are my first steps?

c-u-s.co.uk will supply you with the equipment you need, I've used this supplier since I started and I've always been happy with the products and service.

I use the USBJTAG NT although that might be a bit expensive if you only plan on using it with an Ambit 256, he also sells an SPI programmer and all the cables/adaptors you will need with it.

as far as software, im sure i can find something on torrent...

After you have the modem flashed you will need to sniff for macs useing a DHCP sniffer-0.2.2.61b.rar, also try a SMAC 2.0.
