Default All to late?

Hey all,

I was looking at getting a Eurovox EX1000 SL due to a friend telling me he can pick up some lovley channels. I did some digging and on this forum i see a thread saying channel are now being turned off (as far back as 2008 i think and sooner) but my friend tells me his box lost channels but almost instantly came back!

Is this the case, the channels are not disappearing or am i actually to late and theres about to be a big 'switch off'?
