Default Help needed with home cinema setup?

Hi,
i have a samsung hdtv & a samsung bd-c6500 blu ray player, i have a set of samsung 5.1 speakers & i have tried to connect them to my blu ray player, but get know sound.
I want to connect them so i can hear sound through the speakers when i have the tv on & when i have the blu ray player on.
I must admit i have not got a clue what i need to do or what cables i need to get this setup working.

Paul.

1st off does your blu ray support the cinema surround without an amplifier?, is it just the speakers you have for home cinema? in which way are you trying to connect speakers to the blu ray player? the best method would be connect the cinema surround to the tv then everything you view will be in surround sound

I connect my speakers to my blu-ray player today & switched the tv to external player & got no sound, I then put a dvd into my player & I could here sound very quietly & I tried turning up the volume but it would not allow me to turn up the sound what is wrong & what do I need to do to fix the problem if anyone can advise me.
