You have a valid card but have LOST the box it is paired with.

Your mistake was to LOSE the Virgin Media box which belongs to them and they will want it back at some stage.

You have two options. Go down the KV route or cancel your Virgin Media TV service and hope they don't ask for the box back.
tell them you want another box for a bedroom extra £5 a month

Just to update you all - the VM box arrived, we plugged it and and it works sadly it has less channels than the FV box so it's been swapped back for that Yet to try it with my Smart card in but as ppl have suggested it probably won't work.

Hey ho!

It will receive the unencrypted channels because it doesn't have a valid, paired card.

Take the card out of any Virgin Media box and you will only get these limited channels.

The box came with a paired card but still has only a few channels so back to FV (for now) . . . .

The box and card may have been paired in the past but this association gets removed from the Virgin Media system when the previous owner leaves and stops paying.
