Hi, someone i know recently got a dreambox 500v8 and hooked it up. The bit i dont understand is why they had to connect up to some web site and this person is charging you £100 a year to keep you connected, is this normal? aslo my friend was having problems setting the box up so they called the person they got the box from and the asked for the password to their computer and they where able to control there computer from where ever they where is that normal or even safe. any info on how these boxes work and what is the easiest way to sett them up would be great.

No it is not safe.

The box will be connecting to a pay cardsharing server.
