Default BlackBerry

Hi everyone, I am in the middle of a contract with O2 which gives me 300 minutes, unlimited texts and a free unlimited Web Bolt On. I use it to check and retrieve e-mails (recently discovered I could send e-mails too for free) and to access Facebook, posting and replying to posts, pokes etc. I bought a BlackBerry, put the contract SIM in it and it worked, at least I could make and receive calls and even retrived a few e-mails. I have now heard that I need to have a special BB tariff to enable me to use my BB with my contract SIM, I don't understand why as it worked when I tried it. Yet I was told that it wouldn;t work without this special tariff. This new tariff will mean an increase of around £5 per month and give me a download allowance of 500 mb and everything I do check e-mails etc. will be part of that 500mb allowance. My free unlimited internet will be lost for good, I am reluctant to give this up and wonder if anyone else has used their original contract SIM in a BB without any problems or additional charges. Any thoughts/comments/experiences welcome. Thanks Elaine
