Default Shiny new Kryptview..feedback & question

So I'm now a member of the kryptview gang after my HD combo died, just hope this server lasts a bit longer than the SV did.

Apart from not knowing the net ID and trying a few different locations setting up was easy, my Logitech Harmony 300 universal remote even has Kryptview A780 in its list, so that was easy too.

I am a bit disappointed with the picture quality, my HD combo looked much better in standard definition, will be upgrading to the Kryptview HD with USB PVR when it comes out in June (so I'm reliably informed)

I have to be honest and say that I don't like the menu / epg on the Kryptview. The graphics look even less professional than the SV and they're really not well designed. Pressing the OK button on the SV loaded up the channel names AND what was on, the KV just gives you the names. The epg is badly laid out with the channel number and name taking up far too much space on the left so that the channel listing columns are very narrow and don't have enough space to show enough of the programme name. On a positive note, the menu system is pretty quick and the epg does seem to populate where the HD combo sometimes struggled.

I was never too happy with the SV combo's volume level, had to have it around 50% for regular TV viewing, the Kryptview is even quieter, I have to have the volume at around 75%; 100% really isn't loud enough for full volume but is enough if I use surround sound. I have other devices plugged into my TV, so if I forget to turn the TV down when switching to PC mode or DVD it sounds like the TV speakers will blow!

I watched around 3 hours of TV last night and had a good channel hop. Everything seems to work nicely with no glitching. Ignoring the HD side, I think I have more working channels than I had with the Combo, so very pleased.

Overall very happy with my Kryptview, lots of room for improvement and I do hope the HD version comes out soon; I'll buy one. but for now, it's good to have TV back.

One question, I'd like to backup the channel list on my PC, edit it and re-load it onto the Kryptview. Whats the best way to do this, I have the correct cable and software.

By the way, the net ID for North London is 40985 Haringey on mine (exTW). Finally got a neighbour with a VM box to confirm it thanks to Clio1's guide.

Cheers

I think so, yes. HD combo graphics are a bit garish but much clearer IMO.

Yeah, i agree with with you, Picture quality isnt great, but by now im used to it.
And my initial thoughts when i got it, was the the interface is kinda crappy.

But the service they provide makes up for it, i guess.

"" Kryptview HD with USB PVR when it comes out in June "" me too, and for two reasons, the other one I will see as a re-stated KV team commitment to the future.

A year next month since my EX-HD-PVR went down and yes I still miss the HD in general and the HD-PVR in particular, you do get used to it ' ish ', but only because you have to.

The KV team up to now have done a fantastic job, as is evident when the forum is completely barren as it has been this last week or so.

Welcome to the ' OBAW ' gang reiss

cheers andy, that actually makes better sense since I use a 4 in 1 remote, I could set the KV volume to change the TV volume instead and leave the KV at max as you said.
