They did not come and collect the box, and they know my sub has been cancelled and contract ended. Nor the box or card has ever been modified and receives only channels my TV license covers. I was just curious if it was it was standard that the free channels (itv, bbc, c4) were available on 'catch up' tv.

I have looked again and its actually a V+HD box, i think i paid £75 for it (fto VM) when they first came out, so mybe thats why they did'nt want it back!
I've no need to re-read your OP.

I understand that you have cancelled your service and that Virgin Media have not taken back their equipment or disconnected you from their cabinet.

This still does not give you the right to use their equipment and service.

The V+ still belongs to Virgin Media - they are just re-miss in not collecting it from you.

I'd appreciate if you could expand on this a bit more. What law is being broken?

way back in the day..
if you unsubscribed & got cut off altogether , but had no tv ariel they would turn the feed back on so you could use the the box for 1-5 & allowed you to keep box incase you wanted to resubscribe.

so they did set a precedent for allowing boxes to be used for freeview in the past .strange your catch-up still works tho. phone up & complain hehe

Whats illegal about this? its VM's way of trying to get you back with them, they give you samples of what they offer.

Everyone is entitled to watch catch up as its not a chargable service!
