Default V+ Box - Freeview

Well a year after we left Virgin Media for TV they still have not collected the V+ box despite numerous calls to get it collected, we gave up. So hooked it up yesterday and we get freeview channels, but also Catch Up TV (from the likes of BBC, ITV, C4 only ect) is this normal?

cheers

You will get the limited number of unencrypted channels that any box without a valid card will get.

Thanks, yes i'am aware of that, it is the 'Catch Up TV' part that i was surprised still worked and wondered if this was normal? Its almost like Sky+ as it stores all the best programs from channels 1-5 for a week!

The VOD is not stored on the box but comes down the cable when you request it. I presume this means that talkback is active and Virgin Media will be aware that you are connected to the cable.

Yes, it is a legit box as we used to sub with them for TV, so talk back is enabled

I think you mean that it is the box that you previously used when you subscribed to Virgin Media. That does not make it legit.

If you are no longer paying subs to Virgin Media then perhaps it is not wise to let them know that you have connected the box illegally to their network by having talkback enabled.

If you have cancelled your contract with Virgin Media but continue to use the equipment (even in this reduced way) then you are knowingly using a service for which you are knowingly not subscribed.

I simply intended to say that Virgin Media WILL know that you are still using the service because talkback is active. Whether they do anything about this .......

PS If this is not illegal then why did everyone with dodgy boxes cut talkback in the old days?

Please re read my first post

"Well a year after we left Virgin Media for TV they still have not collected the V+ box despite numerous calls to get it collected"

They did not come and collect the box, and they know my sub has been cancelled and contract ended. Nor the box or card has ever been modified and receives only channels my TV license covers. I was just curious if it was it was standard that the free channels (itv, bbc, c4) were available on 'catch up' tv.

I have looked again and its actually a V+HD box, i think i paid £75 for it (fto VM) when they first came out, so mybe thats why they did'nt want it back!
