Default Panasonic TV V20 Firmware

I am expatriate in France and thanks to FreeSat can still receive, perfectly, UK television (and even still pay the licence fee).

So I have chosen a Panasonic TX-L37V20E (E for European model) and am very satisfied.

However, it seems FreeSat capability is only included in the TX-L37V20B (B for British model).

Now obviously the Analogue Tuner is SECAM not PAL, and the mains plug is Europlug not BS1363.

Nevertheless, I would expect the other technical differences to be modifiable via firmware.

I am currently on v2.505 (European version), and in the setup menu every country is selectable except the UK. I receive from Astra 28.2°E and all is perfect, except that not being FreeSat I don’t get the FreeSat EPG.

Now what would happen if I insert a SD card with the latest v2.702 (UK version), will it be rejected? If not will the TV still run? If not how can I get back to v2.505?

Now of course I posed these questions to Panasonic, and not got a full technical explanation, just a “not compatible” single liner reply. Likewise I’ve posted in other forums and been censored for committing the “crime” of receiving UK television overseas.

Can anyone advise?

Default Re: Panasonic TV V20 Firmware

Dont know, but here's an idea, why not keep you Euro model TV as it is for all the french Telly progs, and buy a seperate cheap Freesat box from the UK, they're only about 25 quid new for an SD one, or about 40 to 50 quid for an HD one .. Im sure you could pick one up on Ebay from a UK seller and get it sent over..

(why on earth would you choose to still pay a licence fee?)
