Cool DM800HD or DM8000

Hi Folks,

I am in the market of purchasing a new box. I was told that DM800HD and DM8000 was the the way forward as UK has now been N3'd.

Are there any better options? ansd what are then costs?

Both boxes are good mate however the only difference is that 8000 has a faster processor from what I understand. Then there is the Dm500HD and the VU+duo which is a superb box from the feedback I have received.

If you get the clone Dm8000 then u looking at paying around 400 quid and a dm800 you can get it for around 160 - 200 quid depending on research / looking around via google.

both work on the sat side and not cable. As they have a sat Tuner.

If you want to stick to cable then look into the Kryptview and that is plug and play. Sat side is not plug and play and needs a bit of reading to be done before you take the plunge.

I would suggest the Vu+ Duo rather than the DM8000, similar featured and it's cheaper than the DM8000 clone and a lot cheaper than an original.

I'm getting confused, somewhat
I was thinking of buying the DM800 (looked at the Linstat website) and I can see that there is now the DM800Pro. (i guess this must be newer)

However reading the 1st reply I was tempted to get the Vu+ Duo. as it does all the things the DM800 does and is better (my understanding that is)

I'm not into recording (but as a future option it may be nice). But the Vu+ Duo is about £150ish more expensive.

For basic every day tv SLY1/ movies etc would the DM800 Make more sense?

The latest clone DM800's with the revised Motherboard and the Rev M tuner are labeled DM800Pro. For basic everyday use, then something like the Blade7000 may be best, they are not Linux open source and easier to setup, especially for the novice.

Long Time since i have been in here. im paying £720 a year for Virgin Media full package. now i hear of this dreambox u hook up to Sky dish and your router. basically i want to know this:

i want a box that i can record a channel and watch another channel at the same time. i want a box that can play hd channels like the Virgin Media+HD

what channels do you actually recieve with this new method of free tv. do you get the proper full Sky tv channels. is it possible to get american channels like FOX using the s*y dish that i have.

Don't think there is a box is capable doing what vm and sky box do interns of recording. U can get the sky channels, but it is not free because u have to pay the guy who runs the server.

And yes you will get HD channels.

U won't get any American channels unless u have a bigger dish and if the server that u joined has those channels. Sky dish will not get u any American channels.

you will need to google the information as we are not allowed to talk about this on the forum.
