Help with HDTV Set-up!

Hi,

I have two HDTV's that I want to connect to my Blu-Ray player and my Sky+HD box. However, one of the TVs is a considerable distance from the source (approx 10m).


What is the best way for me to connect these together? Should I find a switcher to combine the signals and then use a single HMDI cable? Or should I get two HDMI cables and use a switcher to combine the signals closer to the second TV?

Also, which cable would be best for use over a long distance nd should I get one with a built in booster? Is gold better etc?

I really don't know what I'm talking about so as much information as possible would be great.

Way I would do it would be to combine the two sources into one using an auto HDMI switch/hub thingy, about 10 to 20 quid for a 3into1 .

The combined output I would then feed into a 1to2 HDMI splitter (about 20 to 30 quid for one with a PSU and inbuilt amp)

Then fire one of the outputs from the splitter into the near TV, the other output I would send along a 10m HDMI cable to the distant TV .. It would work fine .. You wouldnt even need an expensive 10m HDMI cable ..

Although the way I have actually done it myself is, I couldnt feed the chunky plug ends of HDMI through walls to the distant TV that easy, so instead of a 10m HDMI cable I opted to additionally use an HDMI over Cat5 Sender to get HDMI to my distant TV .. Cat5 cable is so much easier to fire around the house..

Full remote control of devices from the distant TV is possible by me using a Powermid IR sender unit ..
